BERNARD FELDER
Manager and Co-Founder
Felder’s passion for multi-family housing began during his time as a Graduate Fellow with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, where he helped structure the first low-income housing tax credit development project for seniors in Durham, North Carolina.
As founder and director of Sanctuary Residential, Felder, along with Brian King, developed the first new multifamily housing community along the City of Atlanta’s streetcar line and has been active in the acquisition and rehab of properties in Georgia and Alabama.
Felder has a wealth of experience in the development industry, having served as the Director for Wood Partners’ Specialty Housing Group from 2001 until 2013, where he structured the development of more than 6,000 multi-family units in North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Texas, and Virginia, with a value greater than $650 million.
As a senior vice president at Bank of America Community Development Corporation, he led development of affordable and mixed-income housing and managed the $300 million Bank of America Low Income Housing Tax Credit Fund with the former Enterprise Social Investment Corporation (ESIC).
He is a past Vice Chair of the Urban Land Institute’s National Affordable Housing Council, a member of the American Seniors Housing Association, and has served on the boards of various organizations. Bernard and his wife, Loraine, founded the Felder Family Fund Scholarship for African-American students attending the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
